Tequila comes from the blue agave plant, and how long it rests in a barrel changes everything about how it tastes. A mixologist chooses the style to match the drink.
Blanco (silver)
Unaged or aged only briefly. It tastes bright, clean and peppery, with the agave front and center. It is the classic choice for margaritas.
Reposado ("rested")
Aged in oak for a couple of months up to a year. It is a little smoother and warmer, with hints of vanilla and spice. Great in cocktails or sipped.
Añejo ("aged")
Aged one to three years. Deeper, richer and caramel-like. Many people prefer it neat, sipped slowly.
Tequila shots and margaritas
Playa Grande's Facebook page lists tequila shots, and our handcrafted margaritas come in cucumber, spicy pineapple, guava and mango. Our signature drinks use Jose Cuervo; see the drinks menu and ask the team which other tequilas are on the bar today.
Sip, don't rush
Sip good tequila slowly, with a bite of lime or a bite of food. Pair it with house specials or fajitas.
